Whether it's Spring, Summer or Fall, this same pair of horses always greet us along Snokomo Road.
My first encounter was in September of 1998 ("Sundown in the Flint Hills") about the time
the sun was setting and then again in March of 1999 ("Springtime in the Flint Hills"), where one
of them thought the "grass was greener on the other side of the fence."

Old cattle shuts, some of which are still in use,  are not uncommon in the Flint Hills.

School is out - An old one room school house, just a couple of miles south of Interstate 70
on Snokomo Road.  Date on the front is 1890.
